Meet Dr. Andrew Smith MD, PhD
Dr. Andrew Smith, MD, PhD is a graduate of the Medical College of Ohio and completed a diagnostic radiology residency and abdominal imaging fellowship from the Cleveland Clinic.
He's a Professor and Vice-Chair of Innovation in Radiology at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He is also Co-Director of AI in Radiology, Chief of Abdominal CT, the Director of Clinical AI for the Heersink Institute for Biomedical Innovation, and the Director of the Human Imaging Core Lab, and Institutional core lab that includes the Tumor Imaging Core Lab for clinical trials.
Dr. Smith is a Fellow of the Society of Advanced Body Imaging and Society of Abdominal Radiology, where he is the Igor Laufer Visiting Professor and Co-Chair of the Emerging Technology Commission on Artificial Intelligence.
Dr. Smith's clinical areas of expertise are in body and oncologic imaging. His research emphasis is on augmented intelligence with guided imaging workflows and reporting and CT imaging biomarkers for cancer response assessment, chronic liver disease, and pulmonary fibrosis.
Dr. Smith is the Co-founder, Advisor, and Chair of the Board of AI Metrics Inc., a medical technology startup focused on augmented intelligence imaging solutions for radiologists. He is also the Founder and Advisor of Radiostics, an imaging CRO. Smith is the inventor on 20 issued patents and has led FDA 510(k) clearance on 2 radiology technologies.
